What is HomingPIN
HomingPIN puts the owner and finder of lost property together, so that mislaid and lost property can be returned quicker.
1% of all bags carried by airlines are mislaid. For a family of 5 travelling twice a year that means a 20% chance each year of a bag going missing or being lost. The risk is far higher for flights involving a transfer from one flight to another. When a bag is lost a holiday or business trip can be ruined - partly because it can take up to 6 days for an airline to ask all the airports in the world if they have your bag. In the meantime they cannot tell you where it is or when it will be back in your possession.
Mobile phones, cameras, ipads, laptops, passports, wallets and bicycles can all be a nightmare when mislaid. Yet when they arrive at a lost-property office or police station only approximately 25% are returned to the owner because there is no simple way to track down the owner. We provide baggage loops with tags, key rings and asset labels that have a unique number on them. Those numbers are activated by providing us with your mobile phone number(s) and email address.
The finder simply connects to the owner by going online to homingpin.com, or if an airport by using their WorldTracer system for baggage handling. By inputing their details and the Homing<strong>PIN</strong> number(s) found a text message is sent instantly to the owner. The finder is not given information about the owner.
The owner then contacts the finder and arranges to get their property back. We provide 2 ways to make that happen:
- For airlines, we provide the them with information on where the bag is the instant it is found. They will then contact you and arrange for immediate transfer. No more waiting for them to find your bags, and you no longer wait in frustration to hear about when you will get them back.
- Where property is found anywhere else we can provide, at reasonable cost, a method of getting your property back (see Terms and Conditions). That includes luggage when the owner has returned home internationally
